Meet Dr. Brimah Samura of Branda Medical Clinic

Dr. Samura founded Branda Medical Centre, our partner in Sierra Leone providing life-changing hernia repair surgeries to the community. Hear from him directly on how your donations are impacting the community and beyond in the video below.
Dr. Brimah Samura was born in a small village in northern Sierra Leone in 1970. At the age of 12, his parents sent him to live with Wesleyan missionaries in Kamakwie. The Pierson’s were kind and loving and helped him graduate from secondary school and then on to study nursing at the National School of Nursing.

In 2017, Dr. Samura and his partners founded Branda Medical Centre. Branda is a non-profit organization providing healthcare services to the people of Bombali District, Sierra Leone.

Even though Branda Medical Centre has a small team, they are passionate about providing quality healthcare to their community. They are grateful for the support of their partners and donors and are committed to making a difference in the lives of the people they serve.
In order to break the cycle of poverty, Impact A Life Foundation aims to minister to every dimension of community need, and seeks wholeness at every level of individuals and their communities. Through Branda, ILF has been able to provide free medical care to its entire staff, school students and community members.

Dr. Samura is grateful for the partnership between Branda and Impact a Life Foundation. This partnership has helped to further cement the confidence of the local community in Branda's service delivery.

The ILF-Branda partnership has been a blessing to both organizations. It has allowed them to empower, engage, and serve the communities in Sierra Leone. One of their focus area’s is Hernia epidemic in the rural communities.

Hernia is a serious problem in Africa, and the absence of drinking water, malnutrition, and harsh working conditions in the African heat are all contributing factors.

ILF-Branda joint effort is an ongoing commitment to helping people in Sierra Leone who are suffering from hernia. In addition to providing over 2500 successful free surgery, they are also working to educate the community about hernia and how to prevent it.

Dr. Samura is hopeful that the ILF-Branda partnership will continue to make a difference in the lives of people in local and rural communities in Bombali district. He is grateful for the support of both organizations, and he is confident that together, they can make a real difference.
In partnership with ILF, Branda has performed over three hundred assorted hernia and hydrocele surgeries with a 100% success rate in 2023!
