Sponsor a Child

SPONSOR A SPECIFIC PROJECT:

Our work is more than sponsoring a program or planting a church!

We are committed to the holistic approach of the Gospel, relying on the power of God's Spirit to minister to the body, soul, and mind. In everything we do, we aim to model Christ in Action:

Engage • Empower • Equip • Serve

Sierra Leone

Adventure & Bible Camps

Revive Christian Schools host multiple events which bring together children from the surrounding communities as well as their families. The goal is to demonstrate the love of Jesus through fun, engaging and educational multi-day camps. These often look like bible camps or sports camps and provide daily meals, resources and a safe, enjoyable environment to spend time building relationship and skills.

Christian Education

According to Children International, "education is one of the most powerful ways to reduce poverty and improve health, gender equality, peace, and stability." In Sierra Leone and India, 70% of the population lives below the poverty line. The Christian Education Programs are an important part of ILF's holistic ministry. We aim to equip young children through both academic and spiritual teaching hoping to break the cycle of poverty and empower the next generation of leaders in Sierra Leone.

We view every child through God's eyes, as body-soul who is created to grow, flourish and impact a whole community.

Clean Water Initiative

Access to clean drinking water is something that many of us take for granted, but it is a basic need that many people around the world have limited access to. In the countries of Sierra Leone and India, clean drinking water is scarce for much of the population. According to the "World Health Organization" roughly 90% for the population of Sierra Leone does not have access to safe drinking water. Similarly, in rural India approximately 39% of the population does not have access to clean drinking water. The impact of not having access to clean drinking water is often devastating to our brothers and sisters in these countries. They are plagued with widespread health issues from contaminated water, causing illness and often death, especially among the young. Waterborne illnesses can also take a toll on a family's finances, because of the cost of medical treatment and missed time from work. We cannot neglect the basic need of having clean water in these underprivileged communities.

Providing access to clean drinking water is a priority to all of us at Impact a Life Foundation. Our "Clean Water Initiative" focuses on implementing sustainable water source projects, community education on sanitation practices and developing infrastructure to ensure long-term access to clean water in the communities we serve.

Can you imagine the transformation that could happen in the life of a family by simply providing them with access to a source of clean water?

Will you consider partnering with us as we work to bring clean drinking water from sustainable sources to the communities we serve?

Health & Wellness

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

"Clean water, basic toilets, and good hygiene practices are essential for the survival and development of children. Today, there are around 2.4 billion people who do not use improved sanitation, and 663 million who do not have access to improved water sources.

Without these basic needs, the lives of millions of children are at risk. For children under five, water- and sanitation-related diseases are one of the leading causes of death. Every day, over 800 children die from preventable diseases caused by poor water, and a lack of sanitation and hygiene." - UNICEF

Impact a Life Foundation has made health and hygiene training a priority in the communities we serve. By regularly hosting community workshops where we teach the communities about water, sanitation, and hygiene issues.

Women's Health and Period Management

In Sierra Leone, it is unfortunately common for girls to drop out of school when they start menstruating. This is because they often lack the necessary means to take care of themselves during their period, causing them to fall behind in class and miss up to a week of school each month.

To address this issue, we have brought the Days For Girls training materials to Sierra Leone. We train our female teachers and the community nurse to educate their communities about puberty in the local language, Temne. We hold training sessions with schoolgirls and women in the villages.

We are committed to providing reusable menstruation kits to all the girls who attend Revive Africa Christian School, so they no longer miss school because of their period. These kits cost $10 each and can last up to 3 years. Our goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of these girls and their education.

Hernia Repair Surgery

Many people are affected by Hernia in Sierra Leone, and in some cases, many killed by it. The main cause: mainly the lack of mechanical transportation. Almost everything carried by the local villagers is on their head, back, shoulders, etc. They must walk miles to carry items to or from the village. When someone collapses from a Hernia, the person is either taken by a motor bike or carried in a hammock to the main road. Only to wait several days (due to subpar road conditions) for an ambulance to transport them to the nearest center. "In the process, some patients cannot survive the pain and subsequently die." Absence of drinking water, malnutrition, and harsh working conditions in African heat is another contributor to Hernia.

Hernia repair surgery in Sierra Leone costs only $120!

Impact A Life Foundation is among the few organizations in Sierra Leone that has recognized this problem by identifying the affected individuals (currently in Makeni area in the Bambali district) and is providing the medical attention needed to combat this curable but unspoken epidemic.

Holistic Discipleship

When we started our ministry in Sierra Leone back in 2016, we noticed a difference in how many ministries approach their Christian mission. Some mainly believe that preaching the Gospel is powerful enough to transform the condition of poverty and therefore make social ministries irrelevant. And others who are convinced that in order to tackle the problems of the communities, what is needed is action "by Christian ministries along with involving kindhearted people".

By definition, a holistic ministry does not separate spiritual transformation and social action.

ILF's Holistic Leadership Training is designed to empower local leaders to be spiritually equipped, biblically rooted and prepared to lead in their communities. Below is ILF's Holistic Leadership Model which will be used to help train, equip and empower you to be the leader God has created you to be.

ILF FC: Community Service Projects

Soccer is undoubtedly the most popular sport in the world. The love for soccer or "football" in Sierra Leone is no different than anywhere else!

In October of 2019, we worked with local ILF leadership to take this love of soccer and create a youth football program, that we named ILF FC. The goal of ILF FC was to create an environment for local youth to come participate in a weekly program that promoted teamwork, competition, skill development, community participation and always took time to give honor to Jesus. The program is thriving and now has roughly 80 players of varying ages.

In 2022, ILF FC Coaches and other ILF Leadership wanted to provide a way for players to give back to their communities. The ILF FC Community Service Project was born. The project encourages ILF FC players to give back to their community by serving where there is a need. Participants commit to serving their community roughly one hour per week over the span of a twelve-month period and in exchange for their service, players can earn a new pair of soccer cleats. Late 2023 was the end of the first round of the ILF FC Community Service Project and we are happy to share that a total of 78 players and 4 coaches participated and completed the project! The communities that ILF serves in Sierra Leone were blessed with the service activities of their youth, while the players and coaching staff were blessed with cleats to protect their feet during training sessions and matches. We are excited how well this program has been received by both the players and the members of the community and look forward to many more years of ILF FC Community Service Projects.

One Meal a Day

In Sierra Leone 57% of people are food insecure. 26% of children have chronic malnutrition and 43% of people live below the poverty line. Every day, children across Sierra Leone turn up for school on an empty stomach, which makes it hard to focus on lessons. Many simply do not go, as their families need them to help in the fields. As part of ILF' holistic approach to ministry and recognizing this fundamental challenge, our One Meal A Day program hopes to break this inter-generational cycle of hunger and poverty. By serving over 1500 free meals a week, (as of March 2024) we hope to help these vulnerable communities by helping children get better access to education and nutrition.

Spiritual Leadership Training

In Sierra Leone, Islam is the majority religion with roughly 78% of the country's population being Muslim. Christianity makes up roughly 20.9% of the population.

Impact a Life Foundation is a Christian-based ministry. We believe in a holistic view of the gospel that demonstrates the love of God not just through words, but also through actions. While we desire for the communities we serve to know Jesus, our philosophy of ministry is to address the spiritual, physical, social, and mental aspects of a person. Spiritual development and discipleship are accomplished through seminar training, weekly devotionals and lessons from the support of US based pastors, ILF Board of Directors, and requested volunteers. Initial Pastoral support has been accomplished in partnership with the Wesleyan Evangelical College of Theology and continued pastoral mentorship and support is provided.

India

Beauty for Ashes

Fueled by a deep desire to meet the needs of widows suffering in India, Beauty For Ashes, our widow empowerment program is serving 100 widows as of March 2024.

India is the country with the largest widow population in the world. It is estimated there are 40 million widows in India today - 10% of the country's female population. It has become home to the "husbandless."

In rural India and some communities, many widows are thrown out of family homes by their children or abandoned by their in-laws. Unfortunately, without a man by her side, a woman has no respect in rural Indian society. It is part of a patriarchal culture where a woman is respected only if she is a mother, daughter and wife.

However affluent the community or the family - widows are uninvited to family functions. She can participate in these rituals only if she has a husband by her side.

The widows are the unacceptable face of India. Many leading agencies, including the Local Governments, have failed them, Politicians, with rare exceptions, have ignored them, and wider society continues to exploit them.

To become a widow is to experience profound personal tragedy. Tragically, for many of India's widows, the pain of such a loss and the grief that ensues lays the foundation for continued hardship - for a life marked by stigmatization, dehumanization, loneliness, and despair.

Women can be denigrated as an "it" upon the loss of their spouse; they may be ostracized in their communities, endure restrictions about their physical appearance, sex lives and even diets, be confined to their homes or expelled from them entirely.

As a result, ILF has embarked upon a pilot program in March 2023 called "Beauty For Ashes", to serve 50 women and added another 50 in March 2024 in various communities. With this program, we strive to provide holistic support to widows, helping them find hope, purpose, and sustainable livelihoods. Our hope is to bring the importance of ensuring widows do not experience tragedy upon tragedy - not only the pain of loss but of social exclusion. We know that addressing this will not be easy. However, ILF's holistic approach to ministry calls us to minister to every dimension of human need and seek wholeness at every level of the individuals and their communities. We value every person as a unique and marvelous creation, bought by Christ.
