Project Description
Clean Water
Access to clean water is an integral part of health and wellness. Contaminated water and poor sanitation are linked to transmission of diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid, and polio. Globally, at least 2 billion people use a drinking water source contaminated with feces. In Sierra Leone, over 1,200 children under 5 years of age die from preventable diarrhoea every year.
At Impact A life Foundation (ILF), our aim is to provide clean, safe, and readily available water to not just recipients of our programs, but surrounding communities as well. Our clean water program involves the installation and management of clean water wells, education on clean water and hygiene, and health classes. This is reinforced consistently by the local leadership in ILF-sponsored schools, adult classes and community gatherings.
“So many diseases and illnesses have fundamental roots in the lack of clean water. Resolving the clean water crisis would mitigate a lot of problems.” – Jimmy Chin
