Megan MacKayGrowing up I always told my family and friends I was going to go to Africa to volunteer, I didn’t know when or how but I knew I was going to. My senior year of high school came and I knew it was time. I did tons and tons of research on different organizations to go with and finally choose one. My first trip to Africa began in 2013 and I instantly fell in love with the people, the culture, the atmosphere but most of all I cherish how positive everyone is. When I was leaving to come home on my first trip I knew it was just the beginning and right when I got home I began planning my trip back. I went back in late 2013 and stayed for six months. I volunteered in schools; helping with english, math, and just being an extra resource if the teacher needed some assistance. During my last two months I was in Sierra Leone, Ebola was beginning to spread and I was evacuated out. I felt horrible leaving knowing that the people who I have made strong friendships with could not get away from Ebola. I just had to remember that God would protect them, God would keep them healthy and safe.

When I came back in 2017, I went and visited Revive with Pastor Dan and Cyrus. I instantly knew that this was going to be good, God was doing amazing work through Impact a Life. Revive Africa has already accomplished so much since it begun and I cannot wait to see what God has planned. I am honored to be apart of an amazing team.
